WHO ARE WE?

Asturcilla’s history is a collective story.

From day one, Asturcilla was a collective project: first came the idea of making products with Asturian hazelnuts, based on the work carried out by Gabitu, the Hazelnut Working Group at the El Prial Rural Development Centre.

From there, and after conducting a few tests to find the flavour we wanted, a group of four people began to make it, later joining forces with the organic catering company Con-Fusión Comidas to form the cooperative we are today, Kikiricoop S. Coop Astur. Through the Asturcilla project, we aim to take advantage of local hazelnut production, a crop that is increasingly being abandoned in our area despite its great environmental and nutritional value.

We are part of Coop 57 Asturies, we work with local, organic and fair trade producers. We share the warehouse where we work with another local project (funginatur) and is powered by Som Energia.

Asturcilla is somewhat the result of all these encounters and synergies, of the people who collaborated in the crowdfunding campaign with which we financed part of our production space, of the consumer groups and shops that supported us from the beginning, and of the collaboration with entities and projects in our geographical and biographical environment.

By the way, we love having visitors. If you’d like to come and meet us, you’ll find all the details here (link)

We weren’t born in a factory,
we were born in a village

Our principles

Organic

We make our cocoa cream with the planet in mind. We use organic ingredients, free from pesticides and chemicals, respecting natural cycles to offer you a healthy and honest product.

Rural

We are committed to revitalising the Asturian countryside. Our activity helps to keep villages alive, reviving local hazelnut crops and halting the decline of rural areas in our region.

Fair

We believe in the social economy. We pay fair prices to producers and guarantee ethical working conditions. Because a sweet product should not leave a bitter taste in the mouths of those who produce it.

Cooperative

We are not a large corporation; we are a cooperative. We work in a horizontal and transparent manner, where people and the common good always come before financial gain.
